The Bisbee's Fishing Tournament was started in 1981 for Bob Bisbee. It started as the Black & Blue Marlin Tournament in which there were only six teams and a $10,000 prize. Now this tournament has more than 150 teams and millions of dollars at stake.
In 2006, Black & Blue had its highest total cash prize payment of $4,165,960 and was the highest payout in the history of sport fishing.Bisbee's Black & Blue tournaments have been held in the Los Cabos region of Mexico's Baja California peninsula for more than 30 years.
In 2000, Bisbee's expanded to the east side of the Baja California Sur peninsula with the Offshore East Cape Tournament in Buenavista. In addition to marlin, this tournament included gold and tuna, becoming so popular that in 2002 it started with a third event of the same format under the name, Offshore Tournament of Los Cabos.
This event has become an emblematic tradition for the great destination of Los Cabos and every year attracts more than hundreds of boats from all over the world. Fishing lovers await the month of October to be a part of this tournament which fills the entire peninsula.
Bisbee's is currently holding three tournaments:
